What You Leave Behind

I’m drawn to you
Inexplicably.
I find myself adorned
In your cast offs.
You didn’t pack your bags
When you left;
Instead you left it all behind
Along with me.
I’m not sure what to do.
Do I pause or press start?
Where do I go?
Forward or Rewind,
The button seems jammed.
I’ve been looking for you
As if somehow, imitating
The movement of your hands
Could bring you back;
It doesn’t and only the loneliness
Echoes the fading clip clop
Of your footsteps.
There’s no way around it,
You’re just gone.
